The Scammell Explorer RETURNS

During COVID I have changed the engine from a 6LXB to a 6LXCT with 220 horsepower. The extra horsepower is noticeable. This is the first rally since lockdown in the UK. Hopefully more to come!
The last rally we did was the Torbay Steam Fair 2019 and the clutch was starting to slip. So while we had the engine out, I found this engine to replace.

On the bench today is a Matchbox King Size No. K-2 Scammell Heavy Wreck Truck, and my latest project in an ongoing series of Mad Max Fury Road vehicles. This one is called the Mack. I worked on it for about a month on and off and shot more than 4 hours of video for this short 20 minute upload.

FYI: I don’t collect, display or sell the cars, and they’re certainly not competition entries. All of the Maple Leaf Customs finished projects that are kid-friendly are put in custom blister packs and go to my local Goodwill store where they are given to children for free. If there are parts that can be swallowed, those cars are given as gifts to adult collectors that are fellow enthusiasts.

Note: Due to the use of paint stripping chemicals and power tools, this channel is not intended for viewing by children. Age 14+ is recommended.

The World's Largest Lorry (1932)

Full title reads: “Darlington to Southampton. The World’s largest lorry – carrying ‘Berengaria’s’ giant 53-ton rudder, now repaired – makes strange spectacle on the Great North Road.

Pan along large articulated lorry, a Scammell 100-ton Tractor (Marston Road Services) which is carrying a large metal ship’s rudder. It is parked in the street and people are looking at the cargo.

High angle shot of lorry towing rudder.

Back view of lorry. A man is standing on a running board at the back. A sign on the lorry reads: “You are behind the World’s Largest Lorry – Please Drive Carefully.”

The lorry turns a corner, the man on the back appears to be steering the rear wheels. The vehicle carries on its journey, a few children are walking alongside as the lorry is moving fairly slowly.

(It is not clear where on its long journey the footage was shot).
