A Breath of Fresh Air
Business November 11th. 2023, 8:41amAir quality has always been an issue in Chelsea, Mass., according to resident Madeleine Scammell, assistant professor of environmental health at Boston University School of Public Health.
The city houses a number of potential environmental risks: tanks storing jet fuel for the nearby Boston airport, a large salt pile for use on area roads, and perpetually idling diesel trucks at the New England Produce Center.
To take a closer look at air quality, residents have teamed up with BUSPH researchers to monitor particulate matter and map pollution hot spots in their neighborhoods. Listen to Scammell talk about the project.
